Our first full day in Canada was spent driving to Waterton. We viewed farm land on the way with many canola fields.
Prince of Wales Hotel, Waterton.
Waterton, where the plains meet the mountains.
We saw quite a bit of wildlife as we drove into town.
A group of deer were grazing behind our hotel, the Bayshore Inn, when we arrived. We had a nice view of Waterton Lake from our room.
We enjoyed a boat ride on Waterton Lake this afternoon. We crossed the 49th Parallel and the Canadian/US border into Montana. Saw a couple of bald eagles on this excursion but they were too far away for a picture.
The 49th Parallel
Waterton was a quiet, sleepy little town and we enjoyed walking around after dinner, along the lake and through the two block shopping area. Our guide called Waterton Canada's best kept secret, not nearly as well-known as Banff or Jasper.
