Making cards with Val

Two of my friends from church came over yesterday for a card making session. Val loves making cards and is on the design team for our card ministry at church. Linda & I are on the glue them together team. It was a lot of fun to choose our colors and actually make all the parts. Val had designed the four cards for us to copy in our choice of colors. She has a machine that cuts some shapes and embosses. I think I need one of those - I see a trip to Michaels or Hobby Lobby in my future....

The Many Faces of Camden

We enjoyed having Camden visit this week. He is very lively and expressive and we usually hear a Camden-ism when we're with him. He told us this week that he hasn't got his bumps on (like his brother). We asked what are your bumps? Muscles, of course. So I got him to show me his bumps while we had lunch at Mickey D's.































As usual, simple toys are the best. I think he had more fun with a discarded box than anything else. Wish I'd gotten a picture! It had no bottom or top so it became a hamster wheel which he rode all around the house. Placed on top of the exercise ball, it became a launching pad for jumping into a recliner. It had two holes in the sides for carrying and he thought it would be a good mailbox. I'm sure his mom was thrilled we let him take it home!

Dear Jane Club

Sherrill over at Quilting in my Sleep posted about our fun day yesterday. Here are a few more photos of show & tell. Donna had some really cute new baskets and we were all impressed. We did eventually get around to our Dear Jane blocks!

We moved to a retreat room after DJ club and enjoyed a delicious lunch and more stitching & chatting.

Little Logs

Here's a small quilt I finished this month. Had to take this photo before it was complete to add to my quilt show entry form. Maureen will say I should have put something beside it to give you an idea of the size. It's made from 3 & 1/2 inch blocks and is 20" x 23". The border is the last of my all-time favorite fabric, a blue with tiny red flowers. I bought it about nine years ago and finally used it in my Sally Collins quilt. I loved that fabric so much I couldn't bear to cut it up!

Cullen came to visit!

We had a nice visit with Cullen, our 8 year old grandson, this week. His favorite thing to do here is rough house with Papa and he really gave Papa a workout this time. The photo shows how much fun we've gotten out of this $10 exercise ball. It's rarely used for exercise!

Cullen was well-behaved and a pleasure to be with. He's just growing up too fast. He's a whiz on computer games - great eye/hand coordination.

A Sneak Peek

I've been working on my quilt entry forms for the Trinity Valley Quilt show that's in September. That's one of my least favorite parts, right up there with making a label for the quilt. Anyhoo, I had to take pictures to attach so here's one of my entries. It is for the Log Cabin challenge category. The rules are that the quilt must contain at least one log cabin block and be at least 40 inches on every side. Mine has four log cabins and they are made of selvages! One of the borders is also made of selvages and the quilt measures exactly 40 inches x 40 inches. I'm calling this quilt Dogs Rule! It was a lot of fun to make - now I just need to do the icky parts - the rod pocket and label.

Candy

Ron mentioned last night that I had not blogged since June 19th! Guess there hasn't been much going on around here.

I did, however, receive this blob of candy recently. Ron does most of the grocery shopping and occasionally brings me a goody. He tried to bring chocolate covered peanuts from Sprouts but the Texas heat turned this into a blob. It was delicious anyways!
