Trinity Valley Quilt Guild's Annual Quilt Show

Trinity Valley Quilt Guild will be hosting their annual quilt show next weekend, Sept. 28 - 30, 2012 at the Amon Carter Hall - Will Rogers Complex in Fort Worth. Below is a picture of the raffle quilt which depicts the theme of the show. Y'all come!

Alaska - Day 14 - time to go home - Sept. 7, 2012

We said goodbye to Allen & Barbara and went our separate ways to check in at United and American. After going through customs (we lost our jar of peanut butter), we stop at Tim Hortons for lunch. As I'm sitting at a table waiting for Ron to bring our lunches, I turn to my right and who do I see? Allen & Barbara! Their gate is two over from ours so we enjoy one more lunch together before our flight home. A delicious end to a wonderful vacation!

Alaska - Day 13 - Cruising the Inside Passage - Sept. 6, 2012

Our last day of cruising was on the inside passage with no ports to investigate. The girls decided to have brunch in the Metropolitan dining room where there was a delicious brunch buffet set up for us. This was my dessert plate and I ate most of it. This pig came out of retirement!

Most of the day was spent attending a lecture on whales and the crew talent show so no pictures until our last dinner.

Alaska - Day 12 - Ketchikan - Sept. 5, 2012

After a delicious breakfast of crepes with Allen & Barbara at the Bistro on Five, we head to town for more shopping and a nature walk.

We left Allen & Barbara shopping and headed up Creek Street for a walk. This bit of nature would have been too much for Barbara's broken ankle so they opted to shop and then head back to the ship.

Alaska - Day 11 - Icy Strait Point and Hoonah - Sept. 4, 2012

After our mandatory visit to the gift shop, Ron and I head out on a short nature hike through the woods at Icy Strait Point. This stop was designed especially for tourists and the gift shops are in what used to be a cannery for the town of Hoonah. There is a display of the canning process and some history of Hoonah.

Upon our return from our walk in the woods, we happen on some locals performing a tribal dance...

Ron & I were invited to a celebration with others on the cruise who were honeymooning or celebrating anniversaries. The ship's captain welcomed us and we shared a cake and champagne toast.

Alaska - Day 10 - Skagway - Sept. 3, 2012

Today is our 46th anniversary and we start the day with our City Tour of Skagway and trip to White Pass Summit. We can't see much on the summit trip as we are fogged in but we do enjoy a few of the stops along the way. We cross the border into Canada and our bus is boarded by the customs agent for a peek at our passports. As we cross back into Alaska, the agent just waves us through.

Bridal Veil Falls

We got off the tour bus and walked back through the town of Skagway. Found a gift shop devoted to Sarah Palin and a quilt shop. Nothing called my name here so we trudged on.

Visitors to Skagway leave their mark on the rocks by the train depot and docks. We decide to walk back to the ship rather than taking a shuttle - another big mistake! It's much further than it looked and taking the wrong path didn't help. After a bit of backtracking, we get back on the ship and are happy to receive our complimentary cup of hot chocolate and squirt of Purell.
