Trinity Valley Quilt Show - Friday & Saturday

Trinity Valley Quilters' Guild quilt show is this Friday and Saturday - Sept. 18th and 19th.  It is at Will Rogers Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.  Go to the guild website for more information. www.TVQG.org.

We will have over 200 judged quilts and dozens of wonderful vendors selling everything from jewelry to baskets to quilt supplies, fabrics and notions!  We have a silent auction which goes live at 2pm on Saturday.

Sunny Southwest Adventure - Day 7 - Part 2 and Day 8

The afternoon of Sept. 6th was full - tried to cram a lot in since we're going home tomorrow.  We signed up for a horseback trail ride down into the canyon.  We were given mules to ride, Tex & Babe.  It was  an easy ride but there were a few places that would have been painful if our mule had lost its footing.  One more thing to check off the bucket list!

After our trail ride, we took the shuttle and looked for another scenic point to hike a bit.  The shuttles were packed with people leaving the park and we were afraid we'd miss our dinner reservation if we got off!  So, we stayed on until the last stop before the lodge and walked from there (the Grotto) back to the lodge.  It was a mostly flat trail that ran parallel to the road and was an easy walk.  

The deer came out to graze each night and were so tame.  Mainly just ignored the tourists - except for dogs!

We were blessed to have a terrific bus driver, Don, and an excellent tour guide, Tom.  

They really go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a good time.  Don kept us safe as he drove us around, even avoiding what could have been a bad accident at one point when a law enforcement vehicle was heading for us, taking a curve and stradling the center line.

We were stopped on our trip to the airport, not once but THREE times by law enforcement - checking to be sure our papers were in order.

We had an uneventful (the best kind) flight home from Las Vegas.  So surprised to hear about the British Airways plane catching fire on the runway in Las Vegas the same day!  Glad it wasn't us!!
There have also been 11 shootings on a highway in Phoenix in the last 12 days.  So happy to be safe!

Sunny Southwest Adventure - Day 7

 Today is a full day (Sept. 6th) in Zion National Park.  We started the day with a tram tour of the park.  Our driver was Jessie and he entertained us as he pointed out the various cliffs.  The Mormons influenced the naming of the rock formations, such as Court of the Patriarchs, Great White Throne, East Temple.  I thought Bryce would be my favorite park but I really loved the majesty of Zion.  The beauty of God's creation is overwhelming - I'm so glad we were able to visit these beautiful parks.

 Our accommodations were excellent and we had wonderful breakfasts.  The three dinners that were included were superb also.

After our tram tour, we took the shuttle up to Weeping Rock and hiked up to see the water seeping out of the rocks.

We felt like we were being rained on at this point.  The sandstone rocks are porous and allow the water to seep out over time.

 Back at the shuttle stop, ready to head back to the lodge for lunch.
