Sunny Southwest Adventure - Day 5

September 4th started with a cruise through Lake Powell's Antelope Canyon, lined with rich red sandstone walls.

This was a very narrow spot where the boat turned around to head back to the resort.

We enjoyed a light lunch poolside, overlooking Lake Powell.

Our driver took us to Glen Canyon Dam for an extra excursion.  The visitor center was very interesting and our tour included taking an elevator up to the top of the dam as well as an elevator down to the bottom.

In this photo you can see the 500,000 lb. rock that is separating from the canyon wall.  This became a major concern this weekend and crews were working to stabilize it.  The dark line at the top left of it is four feet wide!  Imagine the damage it would do if it fell!  Float trips leaving from the foot of the dam were cancelled until the rock is stabilized.
