Little Red Hens

Here's a little quilt I made recently for Trinity Valley's silent auction (Sept. 2009 quilt show). Hope someone will want to bid on another chicken project. These little redwork blocks have been marinating in my closet for a looong time. I have four small quilts in the works now - all at the machine quilting stage. Hope to get 'em done this week.

Selvage pincushions

I've been busy this week making selvage pincushions for friends in a group I quilt with at church. Hope they like them.

Buttercup Bag

This is a small bag I made from a fat quarter! It is from a free pattern by Rae Hoekstra. Check out her blog at madebyrae.blogspot.com. Her instructions were excellent and the bag was easy to make.

Beautiful ballerina

We attended Kenna's dance recital last night and she was beautiful. The title for the recital was Hymned In and all the dances were set to hymns. I wondered before we went just what they would be able to do with that theme. Boy, was I impressed! The hymns were familiar ones like Amazing Grace and Blessed Assurance and every dance was tastefully choreographed to fit the hymn. It was truly a worship experience and a wonderful witness for our Lord.

Bad, bad blogger

I'm stealing this title from my friend, Maureen, who called herself a bad, bad blogger recently. I've been bad, too. Just haven't had much to blog about. Another friend, Sherrill, wanted to see the purse I made a couple weeks ago so here it is:

I made this bowl recently by covering clothesline with fabric and sewing with a zig-zag stitch. There's a book out that explains the process but I made this without the book - just getting tips from friends. Ron wanted to know why I made it - I said to see if I could. This project certainly isn't a stash buster - hardly used any fabric at all since the strips are only 3/4 inch wide.

One of our grand-dogs spent several days with us last week. She is a high-energy, loveable little dog and kept us busy - tossing balls for her. I may be too old for this....should I just stick to sewing?
