Raffle Quilt presented to Winner

Mary Ellen Turner, 2008 raffle quilt chair (in red on the right) and I presented the 2008 raffle quilt, Civil War Revisited, to Sue Moreland, (left in brown) who bought the winning ticket at a local fabric store. She only bought the one ticket - proof positive that it only takes one to win! Congratulations, Sue. We hope you enjoy the quilt as much as we enjoyed making it.

Valentine's Day

I enjoyed making these Valentine postcards from a fabric panel purchased at the quilt show last weekend. Mailed them to NC on Tuesday and they made it by today. Hurrah for the USPS!

The blanket circus is over!

We all had a wonderful time with Brenda P. at the BCQG quilt show. I'm on her right and Sherrill Pecere is on her left in this pic in front of The Spirit of Jane. It was so much fun seeing Brenda and other Janes at the show. There's nothing like a quilt show to motivate me. I took Brenda's handpiecing class and started my patriotic jane.....finally! Thanks, Brenda.

The picture on the left is of Judy O'Connell, the maker of our Best of Show winner. Judy's jane, My Peace in CHAOS, was quilted by Sarah Francis and it also won First Place in Large Pieced Quilts. Congratulations, Judy & Sarah!

We're all tired but we all agree - it was our best show ever. More to come after this nana catches up on some naps!

First Place Winner

Here's an old photo from 2002 when my DearJane quilt won a blue ribbon at the Bear Creek Quilt Guild Show. That was quite an exciting time for me - the culmination of three years of work on this quilt. There's a special bond between quilters who make those tiny blocks and I treasure the memories I have of those three years. I'm hoping that seeing Brenda P. at our show this weekend will motivate me to start on the patriotic jane I've collected fabric for since finishing my first jane. Maybe I'll have another winner by 2012!

I'm Speechless!

After reading several interesting blogs, I decided to join the group and start blogging. Alas, for the first time in my life, I'm speechless. O.K., I know my friends won't believe it but I am. I find I have nothing to say tonight. Guess I can talk about the weather...it's great this week in Texas. And I couldn't be more pleased with that since our guild quilt show is this weekend. Our last show was cut short by icy roads so we will welcome 60 degree temperatures this year.

I'll have lovely quilt pics to post after the weekend if I can figure out how to upload them. But for now, I'll just get back to bagging my quilts for the show.
