A note of thanks...

to Ruth. I had coveted one of my friend Sherrill's fabrics at a workshop and Ruth said she thought she had some yardage of that fabric at home. She showed up at guild this week with a 1/2 yard of it! I only wanted a smidgen, maybe enough for a DearJane block, but there's plenty for a DJ block and maybe a table runner or topper. I hope Ruth likes this little selvage thank you postcard...

My selvage stash

Karen Griska, the queen of selvages, asked her readers to show her their stash and how they store it. Mine isn't very large yet, in spite of my shameless begging but here's how I store it. I bought this wood thingie at a garage sale and the seller told me it was to hang in the kitchen at Christmas with apples on the pointed dowels on two sides of it. I decided to re-purpose it and put it in my sewing room. I hung a few selvages on it, thinking I would use them to tie up leftovers from projects. But then I found Karen's selvage blog and the rest is history....

Easter Blessings

The table is set and the desserts are ready - it must be time to eat! We enjoyed our Easter lunch with our daughters and their families. The Easter lily was a gift from Jennifer and Kevin and they brought the delicious chocolate chip cookies. The resurrection cookies were from Amy and her family. She makes them on the night before Easter with the children as a way to talk about Christ's suffering and resurrection. A special blessing yesterday was Cullen's announcement as soon as he came in that he had accepted Christ and made his profession of faith. Camden was a bit shy about telling us but he professed his faith in Christ yesterday also. All in all, a wonderful day, spending time with our family.

Have a heart...

My quilt guild has agreed to make heart-shaped pillows for cancer patients and here's a pic of the ones I made. They were very easy and fun to make and I hope they will bring comfort to someone going through a tough time.

My friend, Maureen, was here to sew with me today and she was very generous with her selvages! I now have several yards of new and interesting selvage to work into my next project. Thanks, Maureen! She also gave me a fat quarter of the red she was cutting - now I'll have a memory of her in my DJ quilt.
