Our first stop was the Crazy Horse Memorial. I was more impressed with it than with Mt. Rushmore. Could have been because it was early in the day, cooler and I was not tired. Korczak Ziolkowski, the sculptor, started Crazy Horse over 50 years ago. After he died, his wife continued to run the operation until her death a few years ago. Seven of their ten children run things now, from the foundation and visitor center to the actual blasting of the mountain. Excellent Indian Musuem here.
We arrived just before lunch and it was getting hot! Walked the street of State Flags to the Visitor Center for views of Mt. Rushmore. Interesting point, it's not completely finished. Lincoln is missing his left ear and some of his hair. I think the government gave them a deadline and the operation was stopped before it was totally complete. May have run out of money too!
Back to the Rushmore Hotel for a short rest and then Mexican food for supper.

I haven't seen Crazy Horse. Saw Rushmore a couple of times, once up close and personal in a helicopter!! That's the way to see it. HA
